I know, I know. I am SO behind on blogging, it's not even funny. I am going to make a concerted effort to try and catch up, but remember you can follow my facebook page for sneak peeks too,
For now, and adorable little boy about to get all those gorgeous locks cut off.
More too come!
Tip of the week #1
Monday, February 18th, 2013 | Tips and Tricks
So you wanna learn how to take better pictures of your kids?
Yup, thats pretty much what motivated many of us to take our passion for photography to the next level.
Learning how to use your camera in any situation and see light as shades and color, not to mention strobe lighting, lenses, composition, editing techniques, etc is a very lengthy process that involves practice, experience and perseverance.
However, that doesn't mean that you can't take amazing pictures of your loved ones using the techniques and equipment you already have.
In fact I have the upmost respect and appreciation for "snapshots". The best images are often not the "professionals" but the ones that capture snippets of your life and your family, what makes your family tick and breathe and laugh.
It is my hope that by sharing a helpful tip on photography basics each week you will be motivated to pull out your camera and capture those moments, with a little more polish and perfection than you may have otherwise.
So often when seeing two pictures side by side, you may not KNOW exactly what makes one have the wow factor and the other fall kinda flat.
It's all the little detailes that create an amazing image. Each one on its own is important, but when they come together they can really make that WOW image.
Keep in mind, that as in every situation, rules are made to be broken and there are exception to every rule yada yada.... BUT for the most part these tips are all very important elements to keep in mind when trying to capture that perfect memory.
That said, here is tip number one:
LIMB CHOPPING
Limb chopping. No No.
Every little finger, toe, knuckle, hair is important to your subject. Each one is part of who they are.
Without including the full body your subject will seem somewhat, well, unfinished.
Allow me to illustrate with an image:
Now obviously, I am not referring to his lower body being cut off, but to his cute little fingers. Like I said earlier, you may not know why the image on the left look more polished, but you will just know it's better than the one on the right.
See what I mean?
It's just not as cute without those little fingers and toes.
Now, sometimes it's inevitable, and something does get cropped mid limb. A good rule of thumb is to not crop at a joint, for example:
And that my friends is a little tip courtesy of mua.
If you like it, why not share it with your friends?
And make sure to check back next week for another tip!

Even after a hurricane and freak snowstorm, we still managed to pull off some beautiful fall colors.
